Welcome to YMV, my name is Nikki VanVoorhis! I’m a native Vermonter that wears her Vermont heritage like a badge of honor. I love it here! Although, I don’t love mud season. Does anyone actually enjoy mud season? I live in Woodstock with my husband Matt and our two dogs, Raja and Veda. I used to live in New York City and Los Angeles working for musicians - Asbell/Baker Management, Bill Silva Entertainment, Silva Artist Management, Jason Mraz, Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys, Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, Jimmy Eat World, Mars Volta, and others. I loved that too! Music has always been a huge part of my life.
While living in LA and doing music stuff, I started practicing yoga. When life happened and I needed to leave my career in music behind, my yoga practice came with me back to Vermont! I started a `house cleaning business, worked as a barista and a prep-cook, and moonlit in the local Burlington, Vermont music scene. All the while practicing yoga in my free time.
In 2014 I met my husband Matt, a yoga practitioner of 20 years and co-owner of Miami Life Center; an Ashtanga studio in Miami Beach, Florida. He introduced me to the Ashtanga yoga method and I was hooked.
I am a 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance and owner/operator of YogaMari Vermont! I teach weekly yoga classes here in Woodstock. I am also a resident yoga teacher at the Twin Farms resort in Barnard. I received my Level 1 Reiki certification under Reiki Master Moira Notargiacomo, and I am an aromatherapy student at The New York Institute of Aromatic Studies.
I like to drink wine, binge Netflix in bed with the hubs and our furry kiddos, cook yummy vegan food, and read sappy romance novels. I love hiking in the Woodstock hills and cycling class-four roads.
I travel to Miami Beach to practice with my primary teacher Tim Feldmann. I received my 200HR-RYT at Miami Life Center under the guidance of Tim Feldmann and Kino MacGregor. I’m currently working to obtain my E-RYT200 status.
